In Siberia, Temperatures Are Approaching -60 Degrees Celsius

Arctic weather has swept across vast areas of Russia, as temperatures in the Siberian wilderness have dropped to -58 degrees Celsius (-72 degrees Fahrenheit) on Tuesday. Images captured by a drone showed Yakutsk, one of the coldest cities in the world located about 5,000 kilometers east of Moscow, shrouded in layers of frozen clouds and fog.

In parts of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), a large region slightly smaller than India located in northeastern Siberia, temperatures fell below -55 degrees Celsius last night. The temperature reached -58 degrees Celsius today in the village of Oymyakon. Meteorologists have stated that temperatures are expected to drop even further to -63 degrees Celsius due to humidity and wind.
