The Minister of Energy and Water in the caretaker government, Walid Fayyad, mentioned regarding the potential explorations in Block 9 in Lebanese waters that "logic suggests there is gas there." He confirmed in an interview with "Al-Manar" channel that the southern maritime border demarcation was the reason behind the drilling, emphasizing that the surveys and the situation in the area all indicate that "there should be gas or oil in the sea in Lebanon, and it only depends on time and cost." Fayyad explained that "there are people from the Petroleum Administration and the Ministry of Energy monitoring the drilling process," noting that "we receive daily reports on the progress of the drilling." In response to the possibility of Israeli authorities imposing any obstacles, he stated that "he does not believe they have the ability to do so after the drilling process has started," stressing that "stability has been imposed, and we are benefiting from it."
