Successful Launch of Egyptian Satellite from China

The Egyptian Space Agency announced the successful launch of the satellite "Misr Sat 2" from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northern China, exactly at noon local time. This launch is part of the technical and economic cooperation agreement between Egypt and China. The agency stated that the satellite represents an "important step towards localizing satellite technology manufacturing in Egypt in collaboration with China, in light of the strategic partnership between the governments of the two countries and the fruitful and constructive cooperation between the two friendly nations."

A team of engineers from the Egyptian Space Agency collaborated with a team of experts from the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) during all stages of the satellite's design and manufacturing. The Egyptian team successfully implemented one component of the satellite entirely, making it Egypt's first locally produced product to be launched into space, according to the Egyptian Space Agency.

The various models of the satellite were assembled, integrated, and tested at the assembly, integration, and testing center of the Egyptian Space Agency, which is the largest of its kind in Africa and the Middle East. This center was established as part of the strategic partnership between Egypt and China.

The "Misr Sat 2" satellite serves the sustainable development goals of the Egyptian state by utilizing space technology to develop vital sectors, including agriculture, mineral resource exploration, surface water source identification, and studying climate change's impact on the environment, thereby contributing to the support of the Egyptian economy. Additionally, it enhances Egypt's leading role by providing training programs aimed at qualifying specialized personnel in Africa and the Middle East and supplying them with space data.
