Decision by Deryan to Form a Board of Trustees for the Zakat Fund

The Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Deryan, issued a decision to form a Board of Trustees for the Zakat Fund in Lebanon. The board includes: Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Jozou as the Chairman, Samer Safouh Al-Safah as Vice Chairman, Sheikh Zahir Shafiq Kabi as Secretary, Judge Sheikh Wasim Yusuf Al-Falah as the Secretary for Religious Affairs, Lawyer Munir Khaled Fattah Allah as the Secretary for Legal Affairs, Professor Asim Imad Al-Din Al-Nawam as the Treasurer, Professor Yusra Munir Sidani as the Accountant, Dr. Jihad Mohammed Makouk as the Secretary for Health Affairs, and members: Mahmoud Nabih Sidani, Nabil Mohammed Zahir Haddad, Shafiq Mohammed Halabi, Bashir Mohammed Hariri, Samer Mohammed Khair Subara, Abdul Latif Riyad Aytani, Nasreen Yahya Farhoud, Munir Yahya Khattab, Mohammed Bashir Ahmad Al-Khatib, and Osama Salim Khalid.

The Board of Trustees implements the provisions of the Zakat obligation (the third pillar of Islam), receives zakat funds from their sources and distributes them to their legal recipients, educates Muslims about the importance of this obligation and its impact on their religious, economic, and social lives, and works to achieve the purpose of zakat in enriching those in need according to the principles of Islamic Sharia and the established rules in the texts of the Holy Quran, the Prophetic Sunnah, and the actions of the noble companions and the followers who are rightly guided, may Allah be pleased with them all.
