Hariri's Meetings: A Turning Point in the Presidential Scene

Yesterday, a notable presence of the "Future Movement" and its supporters was recorded during the commemoration of the 19th anniversary of the assassination of President Rafik Hariri, attended by former Prime Minister Saad Hariri. In this context, former MP Nazih Najem confirmed in a statement to "Anbaa" that "the decision for Hariri's return to political work has been made, and his return to Lebanon is linked to developments in the regional situation, but it is not far off and will occur after reassessing and reorganizing matters." He pointed out that "the situation in Lebanon will not stabilize without Hariri's return, as the absence of a Sunni leader has proven to be a failure, and what we witnessed in the past two years is clear evidence of the new MPs' failure to fill the void in the Sunni arena." He noted that "the dinner at Beit al-Wasat that brought together former Minister Sleiman Frangieh, his son MP Toni Frangieh, and Hariri indicates a significant development in the presidential scene that may assist in electing a president." Amid the ongoing developments in the internal political landscape, all eyes remain on the outcomes of Hariri's meetings and his revival of activity, and whether they will represent a turning point in political matters that can help end the presidential vacancy and restore the pivotal role of the Sunni community in the country.
