The administration of the Our Lady of Lebanon - Harissa issued a statement saying: "Some malicious individuals have circulated on modern communication platforms an image of party slogans and writings on the wall of the stairs leading to the statue of the Virgin Mary, aiming to create divisions and sectarian tensions. Therefore, it is important for the caretakers of the shrine to clarify that this image is old and has no present existence on the ground; it is used by these malicious individuals from time to time for the purpose of sectarian incitement."
It added: "We present below this statement a photo we took today from the same site and angle to confirm the ill intentions of those who posted it, and its inaccuracy. We ask all Lebanese, Christians and Muslims, during the fasting season of both communities, to live the true meaning of fasting and not to be affected by the hands of evil that seek not goodwill but rather to sow discord among the people of this one homeland. May God protect us from wicked hands, and bless our homeland Lebanon, the land of the message and love."
