Battery Explosion Forces Emergency Landing of Aircraft

An Airbus A320 aircraft belonging to Royal Air Philippines (registration RP-C9799) made an emergency landing in Hong Kong after a portable power bank battery belonging to a passenger exploded during the flight. Following the explosion, smoke began to appear in the cabin, but no one was injured. The aircraft was operating flight RW602 from Caticlan (MPH) to Shanghai (PVG).
