Swiatek Retains French Open Title

Polish player Iga Swiatek retained her title at the French Open tennis tournament after defeating Czech player Karolina Muchova with a score of 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 on Saturday. This marks Swiatek's third title in four years at Roland Garros and her fourth Grand Slam title overall. At 22 years old, she has become the youngest player to retain the title at Roland Garros since Monica Seles, who won the title between 1990 and 1992.

The US Open champion has joined Seles and Naomi Osaka as the only players to win their first four Grand Slam finals in the Open Era, but Swiatek faced challenges despite her strong start. Swiatek congratulated Muchova, saying, "I knew it would be a tough match, and I hope she reaches the final several more times." She then expressed her gratitude to her team, stating, "I know how important teams are, and I wouldn't be here without mine. I apologize to my team for being annoying... I will try to be better."

She added, "I know we won the title, but it was tough. It is not easy to play matches over two weeks. I also thank my family and everyone who came from Poland; I feel your love. It's not just about being here, but I love being here; this is my favorite place on the WTA tour."
