Southern California: Fire Engulfs Historic Airship Hangar

A fire broke out yesterday, Tuesday, in a massive hangar at the "Tustin" military base of the United States Marine Corps in Southern California. The facility measures over 300 meters in length, approximately 90 meters in width, and 59 meters in height. The building was previously used for airship storage. The base was closed in 1999, but the hangar is still used for the storage and repair of light commercial aircraft. An investigation into the circumstances of the fire, which started on the roof of the building, will be conducted. Firefighters who arrived at the scene decided to let the building burn due to the risk of collapse and used helicopters to extinguish the flames. The two large airship hangars at the "Tustin" military base have been used multiple times for film shoots. They can be seen in the series "The X-Files," as well as in movies such as "Austin Powers," "Pearl Harbour," and "Star Trek." It is worth noting that the construction of the airship and aircraft hangars dates back to World War II.
