Egyptian civil protection forces in Port Said managed to rescue seven people trapped in their apartments following a massive fire in a residential tower on Friday evening. Egyptian media reported that the civil protection forces received reports from residents about a large fire erupting in the tower, with flames rising from the building and posing extreme danger to dozens of residential units in the tower and neighboring buildings, threatening the lives of thousands of residents.
The civil protection team arrived within minutes of the report and found thick smoke rising from the eighth floor of the Karawiya tower in the Qashlaq area. The team discovered that the fire was caused by several burnt car tires in front of two apartments and that there were seven people calling for help as they were trapped behind the flames closing in on them. The civil protection team successfully rescued them professionally without any injuries.
After ensuring the safe release of the residents, the team quickly dealt with the fire to prevent it from consuming the residential units and spreading to surrounding buildings. The security authorities in Port Said were notified of the fire, and an investigation team was immediately formed to determine the cause of the fire and to document the incident, with investigators proceeding to complete the necessary procedures.
