When Will the Coronavirus End?

Infectious disease specialist Yevgeny Temakoff announced that the COVID-19 pandemic will end within a maximum of one to two years, noting that the virus is currently undergoing a process of adaptation. In a statement to the TASS agency, he said, "The pandemic will not end sooner than one or two years. The virus needs four to five years to adapt in order to achieve stable mutations. Three years of active process and two years of adaptation." He added, "We have undergone three years of the active process, and now we are adapting, which will take only one or two years unless new genetic lines emerge." According to Temakoff, new strains of the virus could appear if a person has a severely weakened immune system. He clarified that currently, the coronavirus has become akin to SARS in terms of its patterns, and most Russians already have immunity against the circulating variants of the virus.
