Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated today, Tuesday, that Russian President Vladimir Putin intends to discuss the establishment of a gas center with Turkish officials during an anticipated visit to Turkey. A Turkish official told Reuters last month that Putin's visit to Turkey is expected on February 12. For his part, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan noted that "Putin and Erdoğan will discuss the war in Ukraine, the Black Sea grain deal, and bilateral relations" during the Russian president's visit. Fidan added during a press conference in Valletta that Turkey is working with Ukraine and Russia to revive the initiative, which was brokered by the United Nations and Ankara to allow safe export of Ukrainian grain through Black Sea ports, after Moscow's withdrawal from the agreement in July 2023.
