The Lebanese American University (LAU) has completed the purchase of Qoreitem Palace from Mrs. Nazek Al-Hariri, and the name of the late Prime Minister Rafik Hariri will be given to the building when it is integrated into the university's campus in Beirut. It is worth noting that negotiations between LAU and Mrs. Nazek lasted over a year before they were successful just days ago. Mrs. Nazek had received an offer to convert the palace into a private museum for the late Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, but the agreement did not succeed due to a lack of seriousness.
Later, a clarification was issued regarding the news, stating that the university bought the building adjacent to it on Al-Laban Street, which is part of the palace, and not the palace itself. Qoreitem Palace originally belonged to the Salha family and gained fame after being purchased by Rafik Hariri, who made it his home and headquarters, becoming one of the centers of decision-making in Lebanese politics during the current era. After Hariri's assassination, the ownership of the palace passed to his widow, Nazek, as part of her inheritance.
