Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Iraq, indicated to the Security Council today, Tuesday, that she expects to step down at the end of May after more than five years in the role. Hennis-Plasschaert stated before the 15-member Security Council: "In order for Iraq to continue on the path of stability and progress, it is essential to have a conducive environment. Such an environment requires restraint from all parties."
