Withdrawal of Israeli Battalion 271 After Weeks of Fighting in Khan Younis

The Israeli army announced on Wednesday evening the withdrawal of Battalion 271 from the combat engineering unit after weeks of involvement in the assault on Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip. In January, the withdrawal of Battalion 7107 from Gaza was announced after months of participation in the war on the territory. At that time, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that the withdrawn battalion was one of the engineering battalions of the reserve forces. The Israeli Broadcasting Authority added that the battalion participated in fighting in northern Gaza Strip, with the announcement of its withdrawal coinciding with media reports indicating the army's readiness to reduce its forces in northern Gaza. In December, the army announced the withdrawal of the Golani Brigade from Gaza after 60 days of combat during which it sustained significant losses. It was later announced that battalions from the Paratroopers Brigade operating in northern and southern Gaza would also be withdrawn to reorganize.
