The leftist French newspaper "Libération" published a racist and offensive cartoon about the residents of the Gaza Strip, which has been under destructive Israeli bombardment since October 7. The cartoon has drawn widespread criticism from Palestinians who are suffering the consequences of the war, including bombing, siege, and starvation. The drawing depicts a family in Gaza sitting amid the rubble while a man runs after cockroaches and rats with pieces of bones in their mouths; his wife, with their child beside her, tells him, "not before sunset." Additionally, the cartoon, drawn by Corine Rey, features a hand reaching out from under the rubble. Activists have widely condemned the cartoon on social media for mocking the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza, where dozens of children die daily due to Israeli starvation policies. Most pointed out that the newspaper is owned by Israeli-French businessman Patrick Drahi.
