Earthquake with a Magnitude of 4.5 Strikes the Strait of Gibraltar

The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center reported today, Saturday, that an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 struck the Strait of Gibraltar area in the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Morocco, and confirmed that it has no impact on Morocco. The center's data showed that "a series of tremors of varying intensity are being recorded in the Strait of Gibraltar area, most of which have no significant impact on Morocco in particular." The Moroccan website "Hespress" quoted the Director of the National Institute of Geophysics, Nasser Jbour, denying any possibility of a tsunami occurring near the city of Agadir or of any tsunami being registered in the area, indicating that the tremor recorded in the central Atlantic "has no effect on Morocco."
