Israeli Police Shoot Young Man in Southern Haifa

Israeli police officers shot a young man today, Friday, injuring him after he approached them at the Megiddo intersection in southern Haifa. Israeli police spokesperson Wassim Badr stated, "A short while ago, a young man attacked the police officers who were there with a hammer inside a gas station. The police officers neutralized the suspect, controlled the incident, and arrested him without any other injuries." The Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that "the police suspected one of the attackers and confronted him, but he attacked one of them while carrying a hammer. The others immediately shot him in the legs, and his condition is not yet clear." It was added that "the background of the incident remains unclear."
