Patriarch Raï: We Rely on the Army for Security for Everyone

Maronite Patriarch Bechara Raï commented on the incident in Qornet El-Sawda, which resulted in the death of two individuals from the town of Bsharri, stating: "This incident has deeply saddened us. We offer our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and ask God to grant them eternal rest. We rely on the army to impose security for everyone's sake and on the people of Bsharri to exercise restraint and to turn the longstanding conflict in the Qornet El-Sawda area over to the judiciary." During his celebration of the sixth Sunday after Pentecost in Diman, he mentioned that "Lebanon has suffered a lot from those who have held power for over thirty years; they have exhausted the state, destroyed its institutions, looted its wealth, shattered its economy, and impoverished its people. Furthermore, they do not want a head of state by electing a president for the republic so that they can remain the deplorable heads. They do not feel embarrassed, neither from themselves, nor from God, nor from Arab and international mediators, nor from citizens. They should be assured that they have completely lost the public's trust and respect."
