The Chairman of the Military Committee of NATO, Rob Bauer, announced that the alliance is prepared for a potential conflict with Russia. In an interview with the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense's newspaper ArmyInform, Bauer stated, "Are we ready? The answer is yes! This is our main mission, to be ready, and if this happens today, we must fight with what we have. It is always a mix of being prepared for today while improving capabilities for the future as well." He claimed that "there are no NATO forces in Ukraine, and there are no plans to deploy them here." He added, "But if a country decides to deploy its forces here, it must understand that this will be linked to the other members of the alliance." He also reiterated that one of the conditions for Ukraine's membership in NATO is the absence of military operations on its territory. Bauer arrived in Kyiv on Thursday to participate in a local security conference and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to personally visit Ukraine and meet with its political and military leadership.
