A Yemeni fan tragically passed away in the stands at the Al-Wahda Club stadium in the capital, Sana'a, during the match between the home team and Tadamun Hadramout for the return leg of the Yemeni League semi-finals this year. Media sources reported that the young fan, Ahmed, who was in his thirties and worked as a generator engineer, died quietly while sitting in his seat during the match on Wednesday evening.
The sources added that no one noticed his death except for the person sitting next to him, Yassin Al-Sarouri, the brother of former international player Anwar Al-Sarouri, who quickly called for doctors to assist him. It was indicated that when the doctors arrived and examined Ahmed, they found that his pulse had completely stopped, leading to his transfer to the hospital where his death was confirmed.
It is worth noting that the match ended with Tadamun Hadramout winning against Al-Wahda Sana'a in a penalty shootout (2-4), after the regular time concluded with a tie at one goal each, allowing Tadamun to advance to face Ahli Sana'a in the Yemeni League final scheduled for next Sunday.
