At least 6 people have been killed in an avalanche in northeastern Afghanistan, with 30 others still trapped, according to a local official on Monday following heavy snowfall across much of the country. Jamilullah Hashmi, the head of the media and culture department in Nuristan province, stated, "Snow is still falling. Rescue teams are on their way to the site, and the death toll may rise." Taliban officials in Nuristan reported that a landslide in the Nurgaram district of the province has led to the destruction of residential homes and casualties. They indicated that 25 bodies have been recovered so far.
