The incident occurred in the municipality of Barcelos, about 400 kilometers from Manaus, the state capital. Governor Wilson Lima posted on X, a social media platform, "I am deeply saddened by the death of all twelve passengers and the two crew members who lost their lives in the plane crash in Barcelos on Saturday. Our teams have been working since the beginning to provide necessary assistance." Manaus Air Taxi issued a statement confirming the incident, adding that it is investigating the matter without providing any details about deaths or injuries. The statement read, "We rely on respecting the privacy of those involved during this difficult time and will be available to provide all necessary information and updates as the investigations progress." Some Brazilian media reported that American citizens were among the dead.
