A volcano in Iceland erupted today, Thursday, for the second time this year, sending lava up to 80 meters into the air. This marks the sixth such incident on the Reykjanes Peninsula in the southwestern part of the country since 2021. The country's meteorological agency posted on its website, "Warning: volcanic eruption has begun north of Selyingarfell." They added that "intense seismic activity started around 5:30 AM, with the eruption occurring about 30 minutes later." The agency reported that "the volcanic fissure is approximately three kilometers long" and that the crack is believed to be from the same site that experienced the previous eruption on December 18.
