Turkey's Competition Authority imposed a temporary measure on Meta Platforms today, aimed at obstructing data sharing between Instagram and Threads while it investigates the potential abuse of the company's dominant market position. The Turkish authority had launched an investigation into Meta, the parent company of Facebook, regarding a possible violation of competition law by linking its social media platforms, Instagram and Threads, back in December. The authority stated that the temporary measure will remain in place until a final decision is made, as the data obtained and merged through these two applications could "violate competition law and cause irreparable harm" in the market.
