Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) reported today, Sunday, that more than 80 migrants were rescued, but two died and three others are missing following rescue operations in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Libya. The charity stated that it also retrieved 19 others from an abandoned oil platform off Tunisia. The migrants reported that they swam there after water began to flood the boat they were on. It was added that three individuals remained on the boat and are now missing. Médecins Sans Frontières mentioned that "all survivors are recovering and currently receiving care aboard Geo Barents after these harrowing ordeals," adding that they requested permission to move them to "the nearest possible safe place." The Geo Barents ship from the organization rescued over 60 people late Saturday from a rubber boat in international waters off Libya. A corpse was also retrieved, while one migrant died aboard the ship after being rescued.
