Iran Criticizes Gulf Statement on the Dorra Field

The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Nasser Kanaani, expressed Iran's rejection of the Gulf Cooperation Council's statement, which asserted that the Dorra gas field is jointly owned only by Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. The spokesperson described the statement as "unconstructive." Kanaani stated that "such a unilateral and unfounded statement is unconstructive," and emphasized Iran's commitment to conducting diplomatic and technical discussions to determine the status of the gas field. Iran had previously demanded a share in the field and described the Kuwaiti-Saudi agreement for its development, signed in 2022, as "illegal."
