A consultative meeting was held between the Lebanese Basketball Federation and the first division clubs (Men) to discuss the regulations and laws of the Lebanon Championship for the 2023-2024 season. This took place at the "Liqaa" hotel (Rabweh) as part of the federation’s administrative committee's commitment to consult and communicate with the clubs and to understand their opinions and suggestions.
Attending the meeting were Federation President Akram Halabi, Secretary General Lawyer Charbel Michel Rizk, Federation members Accountant Hicham Jaradi, and Chairman of the Courts Committee Eli Khalil, along with representatives from all 12 clubs that will participate in the Lebanon Championship for the first division (Men) for the 2023-2024 season and several media representatives.
At the start of the meeting, Halabi welcomed those present, emphasizing the importance of continual communication with the clubs and highlighting the need to keep up with the developments in basketball through the improvement of regulations and laws. He added that the federation aims to propose a fair approach regarding several matters, especially the issue of foreign players. Halabi also addressed the topic of the termination of the broadcasting contract at the end of the next season.
Lawyer Rizk then discussed the agenda of the meeting. International player Eli Chamon presented a scientific study on the negative impact on Lebanese players if three foreign players are allowed. The club representatives shared their viewpoints, and the participants discussed the championship system, with each club expressing its opinion on this matter. Halabi and Rizk responded to questions from the club delegates.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to maintain communication between the federation and the clubs for the benefit of Lebanese basketball, which is excelling on various levels, including national teams and clubs.
