On Friday, the leader of the Sadrist Movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, expressing hopes that it would contribute to the "end of American-Zionist terrorism" targeting the people in Palestine. Sadr stated in a post on the platform "X" (formerly Twitter), "Here is another victory at the hands of (the Palestinian resistance) with the start of the ceasefire that the brutal enemy and oppressive colonialism were compelled to accept." He added, "May this ceasefire be the beginning of the end of the American-Zionist terrorism that affects our beloved people in Palestine in general, and our people in Gaza in particular." However, he cautioned, "Beware of the enemy's treachery and breach of covenants and promises, for there is no trust in them, and no good in them, as you know and we know."
The temporary ceasefire between the Israeli government and Hamas in the Gaza Strip came into effect on Friday.
