Today, Monday, the head of the "Independence Movement," MP Michel Mouawad, met with the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Joanna Frontska, accompanied by her political advisor Lars de Geer. They discussed the latest developments in Lebanon and the region, particularly the war in Gaza and the need to pressure for a cessation of hostilities and to put an end to the humanitarian disaster faced by the Palestinian people. The talk also revolved around how to protect Lebanon and its citizens from the dangers of an expanded war and the comprehensive and parallel implementation of Resolution 1701. Additionally, the discussion addressed several internal issues, primarily the presidential election file, emphasizing the necessity to overcome the deadly obstruction and stagnation to end the presidential vacancy, move forward with restoring sovereignty, and enact reforms to put Lebanon on the path to recovery.
