Title: Mikati Welcomes Security Council Decision: To Stop Israeli Aggression in the South

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati welcomed the decision issued by the United Nations Security Council for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip during the month of Ramadan. He stated, "This decision represents a first step in the path to stopping Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, which has no equal in modern history. The real test remains in Israel's commitment to the provisions of this decision, which should provide an acceptable foundation for assisting the Palestinians." Mikati added, "What is required is to launch a political process that ends the ongoing conflict and grants the Palestinians their rights based on adherence to international resolutions and a two-state solution." Regarding Lebanon, he reiterated his call for concerned countries to "pressure the Israeli enemy to stop its ongoing aggression against southern Lebanon."
