Initiative and Agreement... A President Before Eid al-Fitr?

As the return of envoys to Lebanon is anticipated soon, political sources expect French envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian, who may visit Lebanon at the end of this month, to announce a new initiative that could help reach an agreement for the election of a president before Eid al-Fitr. However, member of the Development and Liberation Bloc, MP Michel Musa does not expect any new developments regarding the presidential election, indicating through the "Anbaa" electronic newspaper that he is not aware of any new French initiative since that depends on whether the Quintet Committee has a consensus on a particular approach leading to the election of a president. Musa pointed out that if there is a French initiative, it will be through the Quintet Committee, and the ideas have not yet crystallized, depending on the meetings of the committee, which may reveal something positive. In his comments on U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein's remarks about the necessity for residents of border towns and villages to return to their homes, as well as settlers on the northern border of the occupied territories, Musa believes that this statement should translate into pressure on Israel to stop the war against Lebanon and prevent the killing of innocents.
