Scandal Shakes Italy: Prime Minister's Father Linked to Mafia

A television investigation broadcast by "Gidi" has revealed the involvement of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's father in criminal activities in Morocco. The investigation included an interview with a man identified as Nunzio Perella, who appeared masked and was described as a justice collaborator and a member of "La Camorra." He discussed illegal activities in Campania and confirmed that he had indeed met the current Prime Minister's father, Francesco Meloni, known as "Franco," who was arrested in 1995 upon returning from Morocco.

The investigation, titled "The Mafia with Three Heads," revisited Franco's arrest at the "Mao" port on the island of Menorca in the Balearic archipelago, on September 25, 1995, while in possession of one and a half tons of hashish on a sailing boat originating from the Moroccan coasts. The new revelation from the program is that Meloni's father was not just an ordinary smuggler.

Perella testified that the Prime Minister's father "was not a simple drug dealer," but worked directly under the leadership of the mafia boss, Michele Senese, known as "the Crazy," who dominated the criminal underworld in Rome two decades ago. An arrest warrant was issued for Senese at the end of 2020, and he was reported to be suffering from epilepsy and schizophrenia. The statements reveal that Meloni was Senese's man, providing him with large quantities of drugs and conducting several operations between Italy, Spain, and Morocco.
