Jordan's King Abdullah II confirmed during a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday the necessity of reaching an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza and protecting innocent civilians. The king emphasized the need to continue delivering humanitarian aid to the region adequately. He stated that the catastrophic humanitarian conditions faced by the residents of Gaza require immediate action from the international community to prevent further deterioration. He warned of the dangers posed by the Israeli attack on Rafah, which would exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. King Abdullah II also highlighted the violence perpetrated by extremist settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank and the violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. He underscored the need to find a political horizon to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, pointing out the important role of the European Union in this regard.
