Ukraine has reported at least 12 deaths due to Russian shelling in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro on Friday. The local governor noted that a maternity hospital and a shopping center were shelled, resulting in fires breaking out. The Ukrainian Ministry of Health stated that a medical facility suffered significant damage in the city, but all patients and staff were able to take shelter.
Meanwhile, the governor of Odesa in southern Ukraine reported that two people were killed and at least 15 injured, including two children, following Russian missile strikes on residential buildings. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal confirmed that Russia targeted social and critical infrastructure in a large-scale missile and drone attack on Ukraine on Friday.
The Commander of the Ukrainian Army indicated that military facilities were also targeted in the Russian missile attack. The mayor of Kyiv mentioned that a series of explosions were heard early Friday morning in the Ukrainian capital. The Ukrainian Ministry of Energy indicated that residents in four regions in northern and southern Ukraine were facing power outages following a "huge Russian attack."
Officials noted that falling debris caused a fire in a residential building and a warehouse in Kyiv, while explosions were reported in Lviv. Kyiv's military administration announced that debris fell in two areas, causing an unspecified number of injuries.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stated that the Russian missile attack on Friday, which is one of the largest since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, proves that there is no room for discussions about a ceasefire with Moscow. The ministry's statement read, "Russia is not considering any scenarios other than the complete destruction of Ukraine."
