A French presidency official announced on Friday that the French and Jordanian air forces dropped seven tons of urgent humanitarian and medical aid at a field hospital established in Khan Younis, the second-largest city in the Gaza Strip. The French presidency official stated that the operation, which took place last night, involved French aircraft and a Jordanian plane.
French President Emmanuel Macron said on X, "The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains critical... Amid the difficult situation, France and Jordan dropped aid from the air for the population and those providing assistance." The official did not disclose the contents of the aid or whether Israel had granted the green light for the operation.
Israel had previously approved a Jordanian mission to drop aid from the air in November. On Friday, the Israeli Defense Ministry's Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories stated that the humanitarian situation is stabilizing, denying reports that water purification devices, medical supplies, and tent poles were blocked from entering, as claimed by sources in Gaza and as noted in a document from the Egyptian Red Crescent.
