Israeli Channel 12 reported that the Israeli army dismissed the commander of the 51st Battalion of the Golani Brigade after endangering the lives of soldiers in the Shujaiya neighborhood east of Gaza. The channel stated that the Golani Brigade had withdrawn from the Gaza Strip to "catch their breath after suffering heavy losses." It was reported that after more than 70 days in Gaza and the deaths of 44 fighters, the Golani Brigade fighters left the Gaza Strip to rest and visit their families for a few days.
An Israeli woman in Tel Aviv attacked a soldier from the Golani Brigade, accusing him of killing innocents and capturing three Israeli detainees inside Gaza during an operation by the Israeli army. On December 13th, Israeli media revealed an ambush set by fighters from Hamas' Al-Qassam Brigades against soldiers from the Golani Brigade in Shujaiya, resulting in the deaths and injuries of numerous officers and soldiers. The Israeli army allowed the publication of the names of nine officers and soldiers from the Golani Brigade who were killed in the ambush, with four others seriously wounded. Hebrew media described the battle in Shujaiya as a "serious incident that lasted over two hours."
