Shooting Injures Settler Near Tekoa Settlement South of Bethlehem

An Israeli man, 30 years old, sustained severe injuries this morning, Sunday, due to a shooting incident near a military checkpoint at the town of Tekoa in the West Bank. The injured Israeli was transported to "Shaare Zedek" Hospital in Jerusalem, and his health condition is reported as unstable. A 14-year-old girl, who was in the car with him, also sustained injuries. Her condition is considered mild, having reportedly been hit by shrapnel. Many security forces rushed to the scene and began searching for and pursuing the vehicle from which the shots were fired.

An Israeli army spokesperson stated in a press release, "The shooting occurred at the Tekoa junction, where army forces pursued a vehicle driven by suspects." Initial investigations indicated that the assailants exited the vehicle and then opened fire. Forces began installing cameras and utilized various means to track them and attempt to apprehend them before they fled to a nearby village or towards Hebron.

Hazem Qasem, a spokesperson for Hamas, stated, "The resistance in the West Bank continues its strikes against settlers, and this time it conducted an operation in the southern West Bank at the Tekoa checkpoint near Bethlehem." He added, "The resistance in the West Bank is escalating and expanding in response to Israeli crimes against our people and sacred sites, and at any moment, it could surprise in terms of location and execution method."
