Barcelona Close to the Second Round in the Champions League

Spanish club Barcelona achieved a valuable victory against Ukrainian guest Shakhtar with a score of 2-1 in a match held on Wednesday evening at the "Montjuïc Olympic" stadium, as part of the third round of the group stage of the 2023-2024 UEFA Champions League.

Barcelona started the match very calmly, completely controlling the field, until Ferran Torres opened the scoring in the 28th minute after a shot from Fermín López hit the crossbar and bounced back to Torres, who hit a powerful shot into the net.

Torres quickly returned the favor to the young midfielder, providing him an assist that helped him add the second goal for the Catalan club in the 36th minute of the match.

Barcelona decided to slow down their pace in the second half to exit the match with minimal losses before facing Real Madrid in the Clasico less than 72 hours later. However, this calmness cost coach Xavi Hernandez’s team dearly, as Giorgi Sudakov was able to reduce the deficit for Shakhtar in the 62nd minute with a stunning shot from inside the penalty area.

The match remained intense for the rest of the time, with Barcelona attempts to extend their lead, while Shakhtar launched counterattacks in an effort to equalize.
