Wrexham's manager, Phil Parkinson, announced that striker Paul Mullin suffered a punctured lung after colliding with the opposing team's goalkeeper during a friendly win (3-1) against Manchester United in San Diego, California, yesterday, Tuesday. Mullin, who was the top scorer for Wrexham last season with 46 goals in all competitions, collided with United's Nathan Bishop as the latter rushed to stop a long ball. Mullin fell, and paramedics rushed to treat him before the 28-year-old was carried off the pitch and substituted. Parkinson later revealed that Mullin had sustained a punctured lung, while Wrexham’s owner and Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds wished him a "speedy recovery" on social media. Reynolds stated, "Paul Mullin leaves no ounce of sweat on the pitch. The Wrexham family wishes him a speedy recovery." Elliot Lee, Aaron Hayden, and Sam Dalby scored for Wrexham, while Marc Jurado netted for United, who played with a second-string team. Wrexham gained worldwide fame last season after the Welsh club, owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, was promoted to the fourth tier of English football after a 15-year absence.
