Russian news agencies reported today, Saturday, citing supporters of President Vladimir Putin, that he "will run for the presidency again as an independent candidate with a broad popular base, not as a candidate from a political party." It was stated that "a group consisting of over 700 politicians and prominent figures in the fields of sports and culture gathered today in Moscow and unanimously supported Putin's candidacy as an independent candidate."
