Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia' al-Sudani discussed today, Thursday, with a coalition of Malaysian companies the Baghdad Metro and Najaf-Karbala Train projects. According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Media Office, "The Prime Minister received the head of the Malaysian company coalition HSS and CHSS, Tan Sri Kuna Sittam Palam, who is overseeing the consultancy for the Baghdad Metro and Karbala-Najaf projects, in the presence of the Malaysian Chargé d'Affaires in Iraq, Muhammad Shahir Saberdine."
The statement added that "the meeting reviewed the coalition’s work on the Baghdad Metro and Najaf-Karbala Train projects, as well as the steps that have been implemented in preparation for the project at all its stages, along with discussions on removing any obstacles or challenges that may arise against the execution timeline."
During the meeting, al-Sudani expressed Iraq’s desire to enhance relations with Malaysia and welcomed the entry of renowned Malaysian companies into the Iraqi market to participate in development efforts and infrastructure construction, emphasizing that "the government provides everything necessary to facilitate the work of these companies and strengthen their ties with their counterparts in the Iraqi private sector, especially after the reopening of the Malaysian embassy in Baghdad."
For his part, Sittam Palam affirmed his company's eagerness to broaden areas of cooperation with Iraq and engage in diverse partnerships, noting the company's involvement in training Iraqi personnel to further integrate in the implementation of the metro and train projects.
