Jaja: Lebanon in the Eye of the Storm

The President of the Lebanese Forces party, Samir Jaja, confirmed that "the situation is ambiguous in the region, most recently what happened between Iran and Pakistan, and Lebanon is in the eye of the storm. However, if the Lebanese army were deployed along the southern border, we could have spared the country and its people from everything we are witnessing currently." Jaja's remarks came during a phone call with participants in the first retreat for the Tripoli area of the Lebanese Forces party, which was held in Maarab, in the presence of the party's Secretary-General Emil Makrzel, the Assistant Secretary-General for Regional Affairs George Eid, regional coordinator Fadi Mahfoud, and members of the Tripoli coordination body. Jaja, who expressed regret for not being able to attend, praised "the results of the parliamentary elections that we achieved in the capital of the North, which were very commendable." He emphasized that "supporting the Palestinian cause is one thing and obtaining political gains under the banner of the Palestinian cause is another." The Lebanese Forces leader noted that "presidential elections are postponed, waiting for the situation in the region." The meeting began with a word from Mahfoud, who pointed out that this retreat "is the first for the Tripoli area since the establishment of the coordination body in 2016, which has proven its presence in the city and made significant efforts in recent years culminated in the election of a deputy for the forces in Tripoli; what was once impossible has been achieved."
