The younger dog of U.S. President Joe Biden bit a new Secret Service agent at the White House on Monday evening, according to CNN, marking the eleventh similar incident involving the two-year-old dog. Secret Service Communications Director Anthony Guglielmi stated, "Around 8 PM on Monday, a Secret Service officer was near the dog and was bitten," adding that the officer was treated by the medical staff at the White House.
White House officials said in July that the Biden family was working on new training and restraint protocols for their pets due to the recurring biting incidents. Another one of Biden's dogs, Major, also a German Shepherd, had previously bitten individuals at the White House. Although Secret Service agents are not responsible for handling the First Family's pets, they may have regular contact with them.
The President's daughter and wife use the "White House Dogs" account on Twitter to raise awareness about animal welfare issues and promote shelter dog adoption. Biden and his wife adopted Major in 2018 after Ashley Biden posted on Facebook about the plight of six German Shepherds who had been subjected to poisoning, leading her father to adopt one after a Delaware charitable organization agreed to facilitate the adoption.
