Expired

The World Food Programme (WFP) of the United Nations confirmed that the biscuits provided to Gaza are safe for consumption until early next month, according to the date printed on the packages, and that families consume them as soon as they are distributed. This statement came in a post by the WFP on its account on the platform X (formerly Twitter). It emphasized, "These biscuits are best suited for emergencies, where families need concentrated nutrition in circumstances where cooking is not possible."

The WFP clarification followed a video that circulated about a truck carrying aid for the people of Gaza that had overturned, along with claims of expired biscuits being inside it.

Clarification: WFP biscuits in #Gaza are safe for consumption during the weeks indicated on the packages until early next month, and they can be consumed once distributed prior to this date. These biscuits are best suited for emergencies, as families need concentrated nutrition and cannot cook.

Director of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, Marwan Al-Jilani, commented: "There are individuals trying to fish in troubled waters and there is a fifth column. Another video shows an empty aid truck, and after scrutiny, we found it to be old. Indeed, there was a truck from the World Food Organization that contained biscuits and it did flip over, but the biscuits are still valid for a month and are not expired. The quantities will reach the schools."

He revealed that 470 humanitarian and relief aid trucks have entered the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing since the war began. He added, "The WFP responded that the biscuits are not 100% expired and are used in disasters and crises because they contain strong calories and energy and are very ideal for emergencies."
