Tehran: Iran Does Not Seek to Escalate Tension in the Region

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani confirmed that Iran does not seek to escalate tension in the region and is committed to international standards and laws, always working to deter and penalize any aggressor. In his press conference, Kanaani stated, "Iran does not seek to escalate tension in the region and reaffirms its adherence to the principles and objectives of the United Nations Charter and international law. It will act more strongly than ever in response to transgressions of Iranian red lines at every stage to deter and punish the aggressor for any illegal and irrational actions." He added, "The action taken by Iran was necessary and proportional, targeting military objectives. Given the lack of necessary and appropriate measures by the United Nations Security Council and as a result of the irresponsible behavior of the United States, Britain, and France, Iran has moved towards creating deterrence and preventing the repetition of the Israeli army's crimes while defending its security and national interests."
