Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that NATO's efforts to expand its presence in the Caucasus are obvious and will not add any stability to the region. Peskov stated, "NATO's general aspirations to enhance its presence in the Caucasus are well known to us, clear to see, and it is unlikely that NATO's attempts to expand its influence and presence in any way will enhance stability in the Caucasus." He added, "We are closely monitoring the situation, but we intend to focus primarily on our bilateral relations and cooperation tools between our country and the states in the region."
