Despite the Jordanian government's denial of the attack that resulted in the death of 3 soldiers and injuries to dozens by a drone, Jordanian official statements insist otherwise. All U.S. official reports confirm that the attack occurred at Tower 22, an area located next to the Rukban base, which is inside Jordan's borders and close to the border with Syria. Rukban is situated 3 kilometers from Tower 22, where both Jordanian and American forces are present, providing advice and assistance to local troops, according to the Pentagon.
Estimates suggest that around 3,000 American soldiers are in Jordan, some of whom are in the Tower 22 area. Satellite images indicate that Tower 22 is located within Jordan's territory and is near the Rukban refugee camp, which directly abuts the Jordanian border within Syrian territory.
The U.S. Department of Defense announced the deaths of 3 American soldiers and injuries to 24 others in a drone attack on a U.S. military site in northeastern Jordan. CNN reported that officials stated the soldiers were at Tower 22, near the border with Syria, describing it as a significant and risky escalation in the Middle East. The network noted that the reason for the failure of U.S. air defenses to intercept the drone is unknown, especially since this was the first attack on U.S. sites since hostilities targeting American troops began on October 17.
The "Islamic Resistance in Iraq" claimed responsibility for the attack on four drone targets, stating that three of them were located in Syria. They mentioned that during the early hours of Sunday, they attacked the Al-Tanf, Rukban, and Shaddadi bases, in addition to the Zolufon maritime base belonging to the occupation forces. They highlighted that these attacks are a response to the atrocities committed against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
