A costly watch "involved" the famous Austrian-American actor Arnold Schwarzenegger. German newspaper "Bild" reported that Schwarzenegger was released from Munich Airport on Wednesday after being fined €35,000 for transporting a watch worth €26,000 without declaring it to airport authorities. According to the newspaper, the actor contacted his lawyer and attempted to explain that the watch would be sold at an auction for a charitable project; however, despite this, he was still fined €35,000. Munich airport customs spokesman Thomas Meister stated, "We opened a criminal case under tax laws. The watch should have been declared as it was imported." It is noted that customs authorities at Munich Airport detained Schwarzenegger for questioning, indicating that legal proceedings had begun over suspected tax law violations.
