"Dream Team" for American Gymnastics in Paris Olympics

This week, gymnasts have confirmed that joining the American gymnastics team for the Paris Olympics has become more challenging than ever, as the final roster may be the most successful in Olympic history. Gabby Douglas, Simone Biles, and Suni Lee, who won the top awards in women's individual events in 2012, 2016, and 2021 respectively, along with young gymnasts Jocelyn Roberson and Tiana Sumanasekera, are among those hoping to secure a spot on the five-woman team that will represent the United States by competing at the American championship in late June.

Roberson, who will celebrate her 18th birthday later this week, said at a media event near Houston on Sunday, "This will be one of the best teams America has ever seen and one of the best teams the world has ever seen." The team evokes memories of the "Dream Team" that won the gold medal in men's basketball in 1992, which included Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird.

Biles, a four-time Olympic gold medalist, will lead the American team as she looks to dominate the sport again after withdrawing from several events at the Tokyo Games due to "twists" she experienced.
